IESE Professor Joan Jané has been appointed as the new director of IESE's New York campus, replacing Prof. Eric Weber, who has been director of the New York campus since its inauguration in 2010. IESE is the only European business school with a permanent base in the United States.
Joan Jané, who will begin his term Sept. 1, is a professor in IESE's Department of Operations, Information and Technology and a founding member of the International Society of Agile Manufacturing, a foundation that promotes manufacturing with new technologies and agile methodologies. With a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), he joined IESE in 2012 and currently teaches on all types of programs. He has also been Academic Director of the first year of the MBA program and of several customized programs for companies. He has over 25 years of management experience in Operations at HP, leading European positions in Production, Procurement, Planning, Supply Chain and Logistics for the Printing and PC business units. He will be based in New York and will develop and oversee the current campus activities and future growth, which will be highly focused on launching new programs and expanding our reach in the region.
IESE's New York campus currently offers programs for executives in collaboration with American business schools, such as the C-Suite Pathway program, in partnership with NYU Stern, and the Global CEO Program with MIT Sloan School of Management. Customized programs are also offered for companies such as Marriott, Chubb, Harman, Geodis and the United Nations. IESE's New York campus, in addition to serving the nearly 2,000 alumni who reside there, provides year-round facilities for MBA and executive programs originating from its other campuses (Barcelona, Madrid, Munich and São Paulo) and meets the needs of its 15 partner schools in Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe.
IESE's connections with the United States date back to 1963 when it launched the Harvard-IESE Committee with Harvard Business School. The school established a permanent presence there in 2010 with its New York campus, located in midtown Manhattan.
