IESE MBA Ranked 3rd In World by Bloomberg Businessweek

IESE’s MBA program ranked third best in the world in 2017 among business schools located outside of the U.S., gaining two positions from the previous year, according to a ranking by weekly magazine Bloomberg Businessweek.

Bloomberg Businessweek produces separate rankings for business schools located in the U.S. and those located outside the U.S. In the 2016 ranking, IESE’s MBA program came in fifth among global institutions.

The results are based on data from 600 companies, 10,000 alumni and 9,500 recent graduates. The focus of the ranking is business schools’ impact on their graduates’ professional opportunities.

Carrying the most weight in the ranking (35%), is the opinion of employers and recruiters about whether a program provides graduates with the skills companies are looking for when they hire. Alumni are asked about how their MBA affected their career and earnings over time (30% weighting). The remainder of the ranking are the opinions of 2017 graduates (15%), the rate of job offers 3 months after graduation (10%) and the salary of new employees (10%).

Other ranking

Last week, the Financial Times published its European Business School Ranking for 2017, which rates IESE as the continent’s seventh best business school. An institution’s place in this metaranking depends on its performance in the newspaper’s annual MBA, Executive Education, Executive MBA and Masters in Management rankings, each of which accounts for 25% of its overall score. The fact that IESE does not offer a master’s degree in management has been detrimental to its position in this “ranking of rankings”.
