Rosa García has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid. She has over thirty years of international experience in the fields of Information Technology, Energy, Infrastructure, and Manufacturing.
Most of her career was spent at Microsoft. In 1991, she joined Microsoft Ibérica as the Director of Technical Support. Five years later, she moved to the company's headquarters in Redmond (USA) to work with CEO Steve Ballmer as the Director of Corporate Strategy. In 2000, as the General Manager of the Worldwide Partner Group, she led Microsoft's relationship with over 640,000 affiliated companies (independently owned and operated) that supported Microsoft and its customers in 170 countries. In May 2002, she returned to Spain to take on the highest responsibility at Microsoft Ibérica as the Executive President of the company. Six years later, she was appointed Vice President of Consumer & Online for Western Europe. She was responsible for the region's global advertising sales at Microsoft and for designing and executing marketing plans for the company's consumer products.
In 2011, she joined Siemens as the CEO in Spain, a position she held until December 2018. She led a company with over 3,500 professionals and generated more than 3 billion euros in annual revenue. Furthermore, in April 2017, right after the merger of Siemens Wind Power and Gamesa, she was appointed as the non-executive chairwoman of Siemens Gamesa. Her main responsibility was to implement the highest standards of corporate governance in the new company, as it was set to become a new member of the IBEX 35.
She has over ten years of experience as a non-executive board member of several IBEX companies such as Banesto, Bolsas y Mercados Españoles, Acerinox, and Bankinter.
She was a member of the Board of the Asociación para el Progreso de la Dirección (APD), a member of the Advisory Board of the Universidad Europea of Madrid, and vice president of the Social Council of Carlos III University of Madrid. Additionally, she served as the president of the German Chamber of Commerce in Spain from 2016 to 2018.
She has received numerous awards and recognitions. AED named García "Spanish CEO of the Year". Furthermore, she was honored by the President of Germany with the Cross of Merit, one of the highest civilian honors that can be bestowed in the country.
Currently, she is a board member of Mapfre, EDPR, and Sener. She is also the president of Exolum.
