Javier Quintanilla is a Professor in the Managing People in Organizations Department and Director of IESE's Campus in Madrid. He has been a member of IESE's Executive Committee until 2021, as Associate Dean for Faculty, Research and Doctoral Program, area where he previously served as Associate Director. He was also Associate Director of IESE's Executive MBA. He began his academic career in 1990, having worked as a lawyer and executive in two SMEs. He received his doctorate from Warwick Business School in 1998.
Prof. Quintanilla has more than 30 years of experience training senior executives. His research activity is mainly focused on the field of leadership and human resources, with special focus on multinational companies.
He has a relevant number of publications in academic journals and other specialized publications in the business world. In recent years he has published the following books: Human Resources Management in Multinational Companies: The Subsidiaries Uncovered, Prentice Hall-Financial Times; Competencies of People Management, Pearson-Prentice Hall; Multinationals, Institutions and the Construction of Transnational Practices, Palgrave Macmillan, and Challenges of People Management: A Senior Management View of the Human Resources Function, Prentice Hall – Financial Times. Prof. Quintanilla is a member of several academic and professional associations and editorial boards.
He regularly advises national and international companies on corporate strategy, organization, leadership, and human resources. He has extensive experience collaborating, in different areas, with family-owned companies.
He is a member of several boards of directors and advisory committees. He is also a trustee of several foundations and non-profit institutions such as the Randstad Foundation, the Advisory Board of the Law School of the University of Navarra, and the CASER Foundation.
