Jaume Armengou is a member of IESE’s Executive Committee of IESE as Secretary General from September 2018, and is part of the Faculty in the Managerial Decision Sciences department.
He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (1991). He did a PDG in IESE in 2005.
In 1995, he founded a start-up offering consulting for civil engineering projects. He sold it in 2003 to Prefabricaciones y Contratas, S.A.U. (PRECON, Ciments Molins group), becoming technical director and joining its steering committee. He is a founding member of Ciments Molins R+D+I committee.
In 2007, he joined the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya as Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning and Faculty and as a professor at the School of Architecture. In 2016, he became Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning and International Relations. He was Visiting Scholar for a year (2012-2013) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, participating in the research project “Singapore-Berkeley Building Efficiency and Sustainability in the Tropics”.
He has taught and collaborated in research projects mainly at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya; the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya; the University of Navarra; the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Piura. He is a member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors.
He has invented, patented and registered several models for utility, patents and computer programs, all of them licensed and with hundreds of applications.
His research focuses on project management (decision-making, sustainability, labor risks, ethics) and structural design in civil engineering.
