Alfonso Chiner holds a Law Degree and received his PhD in Business Law from the Universitat de Barcelona with the doctoral thesis "Family Protocol". He also holds an MBA from IESE Business School.
Alfonso Chiner has worked at leading consulting firms and gained executive responsibility in financial institutions, as well as investment and capital risk companies in the areas of corporate finance, investment and wealth management.
Since 2004, he has combined his teaching activities focused on family-owned businesses with serving as a facilitator and member on the family councils and boards of directors of several family-owned companies.
His areas of specialization include family-owned businesses, strategy, governance, management systems and structures, the role of family members, the succession process and the next generation, the family council and the family office. Alfonso Chiner has written and published several articles on the key issues faced by family-owned businesses. He has prepared cases and technical notes and teaches a subject on family-owned businesses in the MBA program and in specific programs designed for members of family-owned businesses. He is a frequent speaker and moderator at family-owned business forums and conferences.
