Alejandro is a graduate in Mathematics and an Industrial Engineering from the University of Zaragoza. He obtained an executive MBA degree from IESE, and both a PhD and a MSc degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in the MIT-Zaragoza Logistics Program.
His research interests include the link Finance - Operations and the areas of Service Operations and Supply Chain. His research has been published in leading journals such as Journal of Operations Management. In 2018, he was awarded the Jack Meredith Best Paper Award (honorable mention) offered by JOM. He is author of the MIT Press book Practical Finance for Operations and Supply Chain Management.
Alejandro is also a Research Affiliate at the Center of Transportation and Logistics at MIT. He has regularly taught at other institutions, such as Vlerick Business School (Belgium), MISI (Malasia), CLI (Colombia), or Università della Svizzera Italiana (Switzerland).
Before joining academia, he devoted more than 10 years to working for several firms, holding various supply-chain related positions, such as Head of Logistics or Head of Production. He has also been involved in several consulting projects in the area of Operations Management.
