Women, Leadership and the Pursuit of Happiness
Barcelona, July 2-3, 2019#IESEHappiness
2nd ICWF – International Conference of Women and Leadership
The aim of this conference is to create a vision and to build theory on women and leadership, as well as to provide empirical evidence not only for the academia, but also for organizations. We are also interested in papers on a wide range of topics that address current problems and key issues about women in the organizations. The International Center for Work and Family founded its first Academic Forum in 2005. In 2019 the conference reaches its 8th edition right before the 2nd ICWF – International Conference of Women and Leadership, such that participants interested in both can actually attend the two of them.
In many countries inequalities between men are women are still the norm (see Gender Inequality Index of the United Nations for a reference). Inequalities between men and women are still prevalent in organizations in political representation, in academia, and in the family. The ICWF International Conference of Women and Leadership aims to focus on “Women, Leadership and the Pursuit of Happiness” acknowledging that the needs for leadership have changed, and that women contributions might be more relevant than ever to contribute to organizational needs.
The ICWF International Conference of Women and Leadership will pay special attention to women and leadership, in the pursuit of happiness; women and careers; women and corporate governance and women and social networks, among others. Some questions that we would like to examine are: Can women have it all? Can companies help women having what they want? Do women leaders foster happiness among their employees? Are there national (or context) variables that affect women leadership (and their pursuit of happiness)?
We welcome papers focused on the current and future transformations of leadership and the contribution of (and barriers for) women leadership from a wide range of scientific perspectives: management, philosophy, empirical social sciences, law and regulation, and humanistic studies, among others.
We expect to contribute to building a new vision of leadership that places the centrality of the human being at the core of the definition and practice of organizations and societies.
The Conference will take place in July 2nd and 3rd at IESE Campus in Barcelona. If you are interested in participating, please submit a 800 word short-paper by March 1, 2019. We will communicate acceptance by April 1, 2019. Submission of full-papers will be due by May 15, 2019. We especially encourage theoretical and innovative empirical papers, as well as quantitative and qualitative analyses.
IESE is a dynamic community of scholars and practitioners that will welcome you to Barcelona, a traditional and welcoming Mediterranean city. Barcelona offers a friendly atmosphere that will enable conference participants and their families plenty of opportunities to enjoy their stay here over and above the academic program we are preparing for you.
