Chaplaincy
Welcome to the IESE Business School Chaplaincy
Welcome to the IESE Business School Chaplaincy, a place for spiritual growth, support and guidance.
"The University chaplaincy is called to become a vital center for promoting the Christian renewal of culture through a respectful and sincere dialogue, clear, well-founded reasoning, and a testimony that is open to questioning and capable of convincing (...) It is a welcoming home, open to all those who, heeding the voice of the Lord within, become seekers of truth and serve their fellow men through their daily dedication to a knowledge which goes beyond merely narrow, pragmatic goals."
John Paul II, Address to University Chaplains, 1 May 1998.
In the spirit of John Paul II’s Address to University Chaplains, the IESE Chaplaincy provides a context for the spiritual growth of all members of the IESE community based on Christian principles.
The Chaplaincy's services complement IESE's academic and professional programs by providing the space and resources to allow those interested in the Christian faith to develop spiritually. These services are available to all members of the IESE community - students, faculty, administration, alumni and their families - and any others who may be interested.
The priests who serve in the IESE Chaplaincy are members of Opus Dei. Founded in 1928 by Saint Josemaría Escrivá, Opus Dei is a personal prelature of the Roman Catholic Church.
A place for spiritual growth, support and guidance.
The oratory is a place for prayer and personal meditation – with the constant presence of Jesus Christ in the Tabernacle – and for liturgical celebrations, especially Eucharist.
IESE has two oratories on its Barcelona campus: one on the South Campus (Av. Pearson, 21) and one on the North Campus (C/ Arnús i Garí, 3-7). The South Campus Oratory is open Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 9 p.m.; the North Campus Oratory is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
IESE’s Madrid campus oratory is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The oratory at IESE’s New York Center is open Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 5:30p.m.
For Mass schedules please see Schedule of Activities.
The priests who run the Chaplaincy are always available to provide spiritual direction for those who desire it, and to administer the Sacraments, particularly that of Penance.
“The task of spiritual direction must seek not to fabricate creatures bereft of independent judgment who confine themselves to the material execution of another person’s instructions; quite the contrary, spiritual direction should seek to form people with discernment. And discernment means maturity, strength of convictions, sufficient knowledge of doctrine, gentleness of spirit, education of the will.”
–Saint Josemaría Escrivá, Founder of Opus Dei and the University of Navarre, in Conversations, no. 93.
